Softball Game Preview: High Tech SD Storm vs. La Jolla Vikings

The High Tech SD Storm will venture away from home to square off against the La Jolla Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. High Tech SD has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

High Tech SD came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Lincoln, falling 20-3.

High Tech SD saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucia Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, La Jolla got the win against Kearny on Friday by a conclusive 18-7.

La Jolla got a massive performance out of Jerri Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Roxanne Metcalf, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

La Jolla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

La Jolla is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for High Tech SD, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

High Tech SD couldn't quite get it done against La Jolla in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 11-7. Can the Storm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
