Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Fayetteville Street Christian

Fayetteville Street Christian lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tabernacle Christian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. Fayetteville Street Christian was the clear victor by an 11-5 margin over Tabernacle Christian on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Colton Thornsbury spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Bentlee Vestal was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Morrison, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Fayetteville Street Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tabernacle Christian only posted a batting average of .207.

The victory was the third in a row for Fayetteville Street Christian, bringing their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tabernacle Christian, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Fayetteville Street Christian and Tabernacle Christian will both be playing Woodland Baptist Christian the next time they take the field. Fayetteville Street Christian will host Woodland Baptist Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Tabernacle Christian will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
