Basketball Recap: South Plantation Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact South Plantation can now relate to. They fell just short of the Coral Springs Colts by a score of 68-66 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Paladins have suffered since December 12, 2023.

Despite the loss, South Plantation still got an impressive performance from Marc Vincent, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 22 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Vincent a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Swaminsky Liberal, who posted 13 points.

Even though they lost, South Plantation smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Alex Pierre-Louis was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 21 en route to 22 points and five rebounds for Coral Springs. The game was Pierre-Louis' sixth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavien Neille, who went 5 for 12 to rack up 13 points.

South Plantation's loss dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Coral Springs, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Coming up, South Plantation will face off against Miramar at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. One thing working in South Plantation's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Coral Springs, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-59 defeat against St. Thomas Aquinas on the 7th.
