After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Adrian, Archie was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Jasper Eagles. The Whirlwinds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Kyleigh Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Mattingley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Thompson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
The win got Archie back to even at 4-4. As for Jasper, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archie will venture away from home to face off against Leeton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Whirlwinds will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Jasper, they will head out on the road to square off against New Heights Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
