Softball Recap: Temple Extends Winning Streak to Three

Temple lost to Copperas Cove back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-3 win over the Bulldawgs. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three games in a row.

Brooke Knox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madyson Combs was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Jordyn Valdez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Temple pushed their record up to 13-9-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Copperas Cove, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-8 record.

Looking ahead, Temple is taking a road trip to challenge Harker Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Copperas Cove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Midway at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldawgs will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
