MaxPreps 2015 Tennessee preseason baseball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Farragut (Knoxville)
2014 finish: 35-13
Head coach: Matt Buckner

After a two-year drought, Farragut captured the Class 3A state championship. The title gives the Admirals five state championships in the past seven years with an average win total of 37. Farragut could add to its state championship total this year with the return of all-state pitcher Patrick Raby, who is headed to Vanderbilt. Also back are Duncan Pence (SS), a Tennessee commit, and Chase Fullington (2B), a North Carolina commit.

2. Christian Brothers (Memphis)
2014 finish: 33-8
Head coach: Buster Kelso



The Purple Wave have averaged 31 wins a season over the past seven years with a pair of state championships. Christian Brothers could make another run at a state title thanks to a solid returning lineup that includes Vanderbilt-bound Walker Grisanti (OF), and Memphis commits James Muse (RHP) and Colin Kilgore (RHP).

3. Dyer County (Newbern)
2014 finish: 36-9
Head coach: Preston Ozment

Dyer County reached the championship game of the Class 3A lower bracket, but lost to eventual runner-up Houston. The Choctaws return one of the state's top pitchers in lefthander Trysten Barlow. Righthander Sam Simmons is a solid complement to Barlow on the pitching staff.

4. Siegel (Murfreesboro)
2014 finish: 22-6
Head coach: Craig Reavis



Siegel returns two of the state's top 20 seniors in third baseman Blake Benefield and righthanded pitcher Carson Lester. Both are headed to Middle Tennessee State. Meanwhile, lefthanded pitcher Collin Stoecker is headed to Notre Dame. Kyle Clary, a right-handed pitcher, adds to an already stacked pitching staff.

5. Hardin Valley Academy (Knoxville)
2014 finish: 22-7
Head coach: Joe Michalski

Consecutive losses to eventual champion Farragut and Bearden knocked Hardin Valley out of the playoffs last year, but the Hawks return a number of players ranked among the top players in the state by Perfect Game. Will Neeley, a right-handed pitcher, ranks No. 4 in the state. He is headed to Tennessee. Seth Hunt, a middle infielder, returns along with third baseman Ian Pung and first baseman Zach Sears. Hardin Valley also has one of the state's top juniors in right-handed pitcher Tyler Thompson.
