Volleyball Recap: Weir Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Wheeling Park

Weir faced Wheeling Park in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Red Riders lost 3-0 to the Patriots. The Red Riders' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

While Weir was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-22.

Illionna Kirlangitis paced Weir's offense, picking up six kills. Kirlangitis got some help from Amalia Kirlangitis and her 13 assists. Amalia was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Weir's loss dropped their record down to 0-4-1. As for Wheeling Park, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2-1.

Weir has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Catholic Central on the 28th. As for Wheeling Park, they will challenge Steubenville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
