Recap: Caprock Longhorns vs. Monterey Plainsmen
The Caprock Longhorns''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Monterey on the road and fell 45-10. While losing is never fun, Caprock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while Monterey is ranked 235th).
Dallas Juarez threw for 45 yards on six of 13 attempts. On the ground, Zayden Ramirez rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monterey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamarcus Smith, who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Kash Lewis made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Caprock has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight games, which gives them a 1-7 record this season. As for Monterey, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 3-4.
Caprock will be playing at home against Tascosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tascosa is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Monterey, they will head out on the road to face off against Lubbock-Cooper at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lubbock-Cooper knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Monterey likes a good challenge.
