Softball Game Preview: Garrett Railroaders vs. Hamilton Marines

The Garrett Railroaders will head out to face off against the Hamilton Marines at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Garrett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Garrett will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Fairfield, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Railroaders came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. While the Railroaders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aliviah Mowery, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jayiden Feicht, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Hamilton got the win against Stryker on Monday by a conclusive 18-6.

Garrett's record now sits at 8-2. As for Hamilton, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Garrett took their victory against Hamilton when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Railroaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
