Baseball Game Preview: Murdock Blue Devils vs. Gardner Wildcats

Murdock hasn't had much luck against Gardner recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils will challenge the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Murdock's offense. They came up short against Tahanto Regional last Wednesday, falling 9-0.

Murdock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Cruz, who went 2-for-4 with one double. That double marked the first that Cruz has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Gardner came into Thursday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-4 win over St. Bernard's Central Catholic on Thursday.

Murdock's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Gardner, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Murdock might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Gardner in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
