Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Carey

Carey had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Everything went their way against the Challis Vikings as they made off with a 60-34 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season.

Carey was led to victory by Preston Wood and Stockton Sears. Wood dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists, while Sears went 9 for 17 en route to 22 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Sears a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Carter Olsen, who posted ten points.

Carey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Challis lost, don't look at Jacen Farr. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points and six boards. Farr has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Parker Webster was another key player, putting up four points.

Carey pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Challis, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Carey will head out to take on Camas County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Clancy Rablin and Wood. Challis has already played their next match (against Clark County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
