Basketball Game Preview: Emmanuel Christian Academy Lions vs. Northwestern Warriors

The Emmanuel Christian Academy Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Northwestern Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Emmanuel Christian Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Newton Local on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Emmanuel Christian Academy was dealt a 51-20 loss at the hands of Newton Local. The Lions were down 39-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Emmanuel Christian Academy had strong showings from Macey Hudson, who posted six points and nine blocks, and Mya Lawrence, who had four points and five steals. Those nine blocks gave Hudson a new career-high. Nevaeh Skaggs also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwestern). They managed a 50-44 win over Indian Lake on Saturday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.

Northwestern's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15. As for Emmanuel Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Emmanuel Christian Academy was taken down by Northwestern 61-19 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Emmanuel Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
