Softball Recap: Dublin Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Dublin had lost six straight, but after bumping their record up to 6-12 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Monte Vista Mustangs by a score of 10-5. For the Gaels, this counts as revenge for the 11-8 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Alana Ha looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cat Ramirez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Charlie Sicat was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Dublin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Monte Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

On Monte Vista's side, Reese Cowan made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Cowan has hit this season.

Dublin and Monte Vista could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Gaels will square off against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (427 vs. 70). Meanwhile, Monte Vista (ranked 521st) will meet California (ranked 133rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
