Baseball Recap: Jefferson Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Jefferson Christian Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Roanoke Catholic Celtics, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Cardinals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Parker Shannon was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.

As for Roanoke Catholic, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Roanoke Catholic's side, Noah Peck was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Peck has posted since back in March of 2024. Mason Williams also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Jefferson Christian Academy and Roanoke Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Cardinals (ranked 380th) will meet Montcalm (ranked 121st) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Roanoke Catholic will challenge The Covenant at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (350 vs. 92).
