After losing to Perry-Lecompton the last time they met, Jefferson West decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers put the hurt on the Kaws with a sharp 13-3 win on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Ryleigh Zitek was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Harriet Dean, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Jefferson West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.

Jefferson West's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Perry-Lecompton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jefferson West beat the Kaws by a score of 15-9 later that day.
