Baseball Recap: South Spartans vs. El Modena Vanguards
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the El Modena Vanguards and snuck past 8-6. That's two games straight that South has won by exactly two runs.
Mason Tymick tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caden Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Reef Underwood, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
On El Modena's side, they got a good showing from Eric Ordaz, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ordaz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.
