The Mater Lakes Academy Bears will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Miami Christian Victors at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Mater Lakes Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Dr. Krop, taking the game 7-2. The win was just what Mater Lakes Academy needed coming off of a 12-2 defeat in their prior match.
Alejandro Napoles tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Jonathan Vazquez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Andres Gomez was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2.

Jendy Gonzalez and Mikey Palenzuela did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez got on base in all four of his plate appearances with a home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Palenzuela scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronny Cruz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Mater Lakes Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Miami Christian, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
