Basketball Recap: Salpointe Catholic Comes Up Short

Salpointe Catholic and Notre Dame Prep squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Salpointe Catholic had to settle for second. They were dealt a 67-39 loss at the hands of the Notre Dame Prep Saints. The match marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leading Notre Dame Prep to victory were Bryce Quinet and Will Feagles. Quinet went 7-for-11 on his way to 15 points and five steals, while Feagles shot 41% from the field to rack up 22 points and six boards. With that strong performance, Quinet is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Ethan Sobik, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Salpointe Catholic's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points over those games. As for Notre Dame Prep, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 23-3.

Salpointe Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-40 victory against Mica Mountain on the 26th. As for Notre Dame Prep, they have also already played their next matchup, a 55-53 win against Hamilton on the 21st.
