Softball Game Preview: Bella Vista Broncos vs. Elk Grove Thundering Herd

The Bella Vista Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bella Vista lost 13-5 to Ponderosa last Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncos in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost four in a row.

Taytum Thayne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Elk Grove hadn't done well against Sheldon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Thundering Herd never let the Huskies get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory.

The team relied heavily on Ryann Wolfe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Izianah Castillo, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Elk Grove pushed their record up to 16-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bella Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Bella Vista came out on top in a nail-biter against Elk Grove in their previous matchup back in May of 2018, sneaking past 10-9. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Thundering Herd have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
