Baseball Game Preview: Gallatin County Hawks vs. Hardin County Cougars

Gallatin County is 2-8 against Hardin County since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hawks will face off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Gallatin County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Hardin County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Gallatin County's win against Crab Orchard wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Trojans 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

The team relied heavily on Skylar Barnett, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Kaden Downen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, Hardin County entered their tilt with Pope County on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Pirates. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The victory got Hardin County back to even at 5-5-1. As for Gallatin County, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.

Gallatin County couldn't quite get it done against Hardin County in their previous matchup on Wednesday as they fell 5-2. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
