Edgewood dropped their record down to 5-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-3 to the Greencastle Tiger Cubs. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tiger Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Edgewood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Hudson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. Aaron Murphy also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Greencastle, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Greencastle, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Greencastle's side, Bryton Gregg and Nathan Sutherlin made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Gregg struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Sutherlin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Gregg got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, while Sutherlin went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Sam Gooch was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Greencastle's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Dayhuff, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
