Basketball Recap: South Bend Washington Takes a Loss

South Bend Washington and South Bend St. Joseph squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but South Bend Washington had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 85-69 to the South Bend St. Joseph Huskies. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, South Bend Washington still got an impressive performance from Steven Reynolds, who shot 41% from the field on his way to 29 points and seven boards. Reynolds has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was DaKori Parker, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

South Bend St. Joseph's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Konieczny, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Nick Shrewsberry was another key player, dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten boards.

South Bend Washington is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8. As for South Bend St. Joseph, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
