Basketball Recap: Abernathy Snags 14th Victory in Last 16 Games

Abernathy had won four straight games and Mecailin Marshall did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Abernathy Antelopes enjoyed a cozy 51-33 win over the New Home Leopards thanks in part to Marshall, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The match was her sixth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kendal Miller, who posted eight points. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Abernathy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for New Home, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 19-7 record.

Abernathy and New Home should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Abernathy will challenge New Deal at 6:15 p.m. on Friday up 329 places (75 vs. 404). Abernathy is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, New Home (ranked 111th) will meet Ralls (ranked 993rd) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
