Volleyball Game Preview: Howard Lions vs. North Hagerstown Hubs

The Howard Lions will square off against the North Hagerstown Hubs on Saturday. Both teams are still undefeated (Howard has 24 wins , while North Hagerstown has 37 dating back to last season).

Howard is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Arundel 3-0.

The victory didn't come easy: Arundel scored at least 21 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.

Miranda Ball was nothing short of spectacular: she had 17 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, North Hagerstown faced Reservoir in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hubs put the hurt on the 'Gators with a sharp 3-0 win.

Howard better focus on containing Zalikah Pabalan and Lauren Ly as the pair were huge in North Hagerstown's win. Pabalan had 11 digs and four aces, while Ly had 16 assists and three digs. Those four aces gave Pabalan a new career-high.

Howard's record is now 24-0. As for North Hagerstown, their record now sits at 19-0.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Howard has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.8 aces per game. However, it's not like North Hagerstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Howard came out on top in a nail-biter against North Hagerstown in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hubs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
