Football Recap: The Classical Academy of Sarasota Takes a Loss

The Classical Academy of Sarasota faced Foundation Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Patriots were beaten by the Panthers 58-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 46-14 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Tate Young threw for 123 yards and one touchdown. Jackson Schlabach was his top target, picking up 84 receiving yards and one score.

Foundation Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathon Sawicky, who picked up 45 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 38 yards. Another back making a difference was Tristan Cornish, who rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

The Classical Academy of Sarasota has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Foundation Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

As of now, neither The Classical Academy of Sarasota nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
