Baseball Recap: Roseau Has No Trouble Against Crookston

Roseau barely beat Crookston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 13-4 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.

Trey Mertens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Mertens was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chase Bachleitner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Klint, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Roseau was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Roseau's record is now 2-4. As for Crookston, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roseau will take on Marshall at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crookston, they will square off against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
