Basketball Game Preview: Christ the King Crusaders vs. Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy Patriots

The Christ the King Crusaders are taking a road trip to take on the Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Christ the King is leaving town to face Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Crusaders took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mooresville on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Christ the King saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anna Haynes dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Haynes has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lucy Gorman, who posted two points along with nine steals, six assists, and six boards.

Meanwhile, Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 35-22.

Christ the King better keep an eye on Leia Garrett. She was instrumental in Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy's win, almost dropping a triple-double with nine points, 11 rebounds, and nine blocks. Priscilla Amend was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Everything came up roses for Christ the King against Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 60-25 victory. In that contest, the Crusaders amassed a halftime lead of 40-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
