Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Range). They came out on top against the Lakewood Tigers by a score of 41-28 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Mountain Range didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. Austin Ramirez and Paul Kershaw were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece. Jayden Pattenaude also set a new season high mark in total tackles with ten. Alberto Zavala was another major factor on D, making 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending a pass.
Dean Vance and Kasten Steinke certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Vance picked up 156 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Steinke threw for 379 yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Steinke a new career-high in rushing yards (11). A healthy portion of Steinke's aerial production (83 yards to be exact) also went to Jaden Quinn.
Mountain Range's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Lakewood, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
