Baseball Recap: Chichester Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Chichester waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Interboro Buccaneers as they made off with a 9-2 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-1 win back in April.

Gavin Derrickson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Cole Sanford and Logan Werley did most of the damage at the plate: Sanford went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Werley went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Sanford has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Alex Kester was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Chichester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chichester's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Interboro, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.
