It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Laurel can now relate to. They fell just short of the Canton Tigers by a score of 42-40 on Tuesday. The Golden Tornadoes' defeat signaled the end of their 26-game winning streak.

Laurel's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayllis Walker, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracelyn Carmichael, who earned ten points and six boards.

Laurel's defeat dropped their record down to 31-2. As for Canton, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 27-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Canton beat Laurel by a score of 42-40 later that day.
