Football Recap: Lincoln Southwest Keeps Lincoln Southeast's Under Pressure

Lincoln Southwest's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They lost to the Lincoln Southeast Knights at home by a 26-9 margin. The Silver Hawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Lincoln Southwest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kevin Richardson picked up 134 receiving yards and one touchdown. Richardson's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.

Even if they lost, Lincoln Southwest's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Gavin Rathbun, Evan Robinson, and Tanner Schroder, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Lincoln Southeast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Mehta, who picked up 174 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Mehta a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Brecken Bokowski, who rushed for 116 yards and one score while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Lincoln Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lincoln Southeast, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Lincoln Southwest will venture away from home to square off against Papillion-LaVista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln Southeast, they will welcome Creighton Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
