Basketball Game Preview: Marlboro Academy Dragons vs. Dillon Christian Warriors

Marlboro Academy hasn't had much luck against Dillon Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Dragons will square off against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Marlboro Academy saw some tournament action on Saturday. They received a blow as they fell 55-41 to Green Sea Floyds.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 68 points the game before, Dillon Christian was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 65-29 loss at the hands of Aynor.

Marlboro Academy will need to focus on slowing down McKinnon Sampson, one of several Dillon Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 13 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Blackmon, who earned nine points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Marlboro Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Dillon Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Things could have been worse for Marlboro Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-47 loss to Dillon Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for the Dragons, Thompson Stone (who shot 44% from the field en route to 28 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
