The Lansing Catholic Cougars will challenge the Ionia Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Lansing Catholic's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Ionia has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
On Thursday, Lansing Catholic made easy work of East Lansing and carried off a 15-3 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Zoey Gruber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Katy Howard was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Convey, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Lansing Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Lansing only posted an OBP of .241.
Hastings hit Ionia with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs came up short against the Saxons, falling 11-4.
Lansing Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Ionia, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Lansing Catholic took their victory against Ionia in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
