Softball Recap: Lincoln County Comes Up Short

If Lincoln County was riding high fresh off their 12-1 takedown of Berea on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots lost 11-2 to the Rockcastle County Rockets on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost nine in a row.

Madison Cassidy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailee Elmore, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Lincoln County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Rockcastle County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln County will challenge Danville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Admirals at the right time seeing as the Admirals are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Rockcastle County, they will square off against Russell County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lakers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
