Baseball Recap: Schuylkill Valley Gets the Win

Schuylkill Valley's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Pequea Valley Braves 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 25, 2024.

Connor Huggard was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Salinger Kehs-Rossi, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Nawrocki, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Schuylkill Valley's record is now 2-5. As for Pequea Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Schuylkill Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-3 victory against Brandywine Heights Area on the 31st. As for Pequea Valley, they will square off against Lancaster Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be the Braves' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
