Basketball Recap: Jada Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Quincy over Alton

Quincy and Alton squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Quincy had to settle for second. They came up short against the Alton Redbirds, falling 65-40. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Redbirds are ranked fourth).

Quincy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Brown, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Myley Longcor, who posted 11 points.

Quincy's loss dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Alton, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 30-2.

Quincy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alton, they will face off against O'Fallon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully O'Fallon likes a good challenge.
