Preview: St. John's Islanders vs. Cross Trojans

St. John has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Cross Trojans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John's and Cross are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.

Last Wednesday, St. John's was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 37-32 to Military Magnet Academy.

Meanwhile, Cross stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-40 win over Charleston Math & Science on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cross.

It was another big night for Jamez Way, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Way is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Caden Ramsey, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Cross, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

St. John's ended up a good deal behind Cross when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 55-40. Can St. John's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
