Baseball Recap: Southwest Covenant Comes Up Short on the Road Against Destiny Christian

Southwest Covenant kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Destiny Christian Wildcats by a score of 9-8. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Journey Miller was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Brewer Lee was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest Covenant will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Geary at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Destiny Christian, they will welcome Santa Fe South at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
