Socorro suffers ninth straight loss on the road

The Socorro Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 12th straight loss. They were dealt a 61-28 loss at the hands of Magdalena. Socorro was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-9.

Magdalena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jorianne Mirabal, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Mirabal is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kambree Montoya was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.

Socorro bumped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Magdalena, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Socorro will be playing at home against Wingate at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Wingate is ranked 118th, while Socorro is ranked 131st). As for Magdalena, they will head out on the road to face off against Capitan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
