Basketball Recap: Southeast Takes a Loss

It was fun while it lasted, but Southeast's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Saturday. They were outmatched by the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars and fell 67-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lancers have suffered since January 29th.

Adam Stanton was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds for New Heights Christian Academy. Stanton is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jayce Walker, who posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Southeast fell to 3-1. As for New Heights Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Crest at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for New Heights Christian Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars duke it out with the Baxter Springs Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. New Heights Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
