Baseball Recap: Gila Ridge Hawks vs. Youngker Roughriders

Gila Ridge had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-17 to make it four. They lost 9-3 to the Youngker Roughriders. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Roughriders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Gila Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Rosado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Rosado has hit this season.

As for Youngker, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Youngker's side, Riley Carteno was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Carteno has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Rojas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Gila Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Mountain Ridge on the 17th. As for Youngker, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against Centennial on the 21st.
