Basketball Recap: Adams Central Takes a Loss

Adams Central lost against Southern Wells back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Adams Central Flying Jets took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Wells Raiders. The Flying Jets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Adams Central lost, don't look at Ava Stafford. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Stafford continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Fisher, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Southern Wells' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Collena Reeves, who earned ten points and five boards. What's more, Reeves also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Kenzie Paxson was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Adams Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Southern Wells, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Heritage the next time they take the court. Southern Wells will host Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Adams Central will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on January 21st.
