It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Rancho Bernardo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 23-16 win over the San Diego Cavers. The victory was just business as usual for the Broncos, who after five games remain undefeated this season.

Rancho Bernardo found their leader in sophomore Gaige Weddle, who rushed for 104 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 61 yards and one touchdown. Those 104 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Weddle.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Rancho Bernardo, adding 11 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Enzo Flores: he added nine points with three field goals.

Despite the loss, San Diego had strong showings from Jayden Harris, who threw for 138 yards and one TD, and Jayden Johnson, who rushed for 84 yards.

Rancho Bernardo's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for San Diego, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Rancho Bernardo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 31-17 victory against Del Norte on the 3rd. As for San Diego, they have also already played their next contest, a 31-13 loss against Point Loma on the 3rd.
