Softball Recap: Fenwick Has No Trouble Against Lincoln Park

While Fenwick put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Lincoln Park. The Friars put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Friars have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Gianna Pescatore's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sophia Leonardi was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kailey Janda, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Fenwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Fenwick's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4. As for Lincoln Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fenwick will host Lincoln-Way Central at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Friars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lincoln Park, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Payton College Prep at 4:30 p.m. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
