Volleyball Recap: Briggsdale Falcons vs. Lone Star Longhorns

Briggsdale was the 3-0 winner over Lone Star when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Longhorns 25-13 in the first set.

Briggsdale actually scored more points across those five sets (103-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 15-10.

Claire Brown paced Briggsdale's offense, picking up 20 kills. Brown got some help from Bailey Loyd and her 34 assists. Mckinzee Slinger controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Briggsdale and nudges their season record down to 4-13. As for Lone Star, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Briggsdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Fleming on the 17th. As for Lone Star, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Vanguard Classical East on the 18th.
