Volleyball Recap: Daniel Falls Short Against Ranked Cardinal Newman

Daniel faced Cardinal Newman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lions fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-1. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in September of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Daniel had strong showings from Lydia Chasteen, who had six digs and six assists, and Kelsey Gosnell, who had five digs.

Cardinal Newman can attribute much of their success to Lizzie Hydorn, who had 12 digs and two assists. Blaine Stackhouse also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Daniel's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Cardinal Newman, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 28-3.

Daniel has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Aiken on the 26th. As for Cardinal Newman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against River Bluff on the 26th.
