Franklin Regional dropped their record down to 9-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Pleasant Vikings. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Chloe Lancaster was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lancaster was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Toryn Fulton and Ciara Camacho stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fulton went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Camacho went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.
Like Franklin Regional, Mt. Pleasant also got a great game from a two-way player: Danica Trainer 2027. Throwing, Trainer 2027 pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Gigi Stanek 2025 pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Trainer 2027 has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Trainer 2027 went 3-for-4 with two runs, while Stanek 2025 went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ella Alakson 2025 and Jenna Whipkey 2028 did most of the damage at the plate: Alakson 2025 went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Whipkey 2028 went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Whipkey 2028 a new career-high. Carly Surma 2026 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Looking ahead, Franklin Regional will challenge Mt. Carmel Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
