Basketball Game Preview: Lake Washington Kangaroos vs. La Joya Community Fighting Lobos

The Lake Washington Kangaroos will be taking part in a tournament against the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos at 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully La Joya Community likes a good challenge.

Lake Washington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked 16th at the time (Lake Washington was ranked fifth). The Kangaroos fell 64-56 to the Patriots on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lake Washington's loss came about despite a quality game from Matthew Adeeb, who posted 12 points along with eight boards and six assists.

Meanwhile, La Joya Community earned a 66-58 win over Gila Ridge last Friday. The Fighting Lobos haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Lake Washington better focus on containing Isaiah Helton and Johnny Glotfelter as the pair were huge in La Joya Community's win. Helton went 5-for-6 to rack up 13 points, while Glotfelter shot 63% from the field en route to 12 points. Thanks to that strong game, Helton now owns an excellent 46.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Ruiz, who scored eight points and five rebounds.

La Joya Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lake Washington fell to 5-1. As for La Joya Community, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
