Basketball Recap: Texas Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Texas's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Marshall Mavericks by a score of 66-54. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Mavericks are ranked 852nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Texas' victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Marshall, they dropped their record down to 5-18 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Texas will head out to challenge Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marshall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Marshall surely won't give up without a fight.
