Baseball Game Preview: Carlinville Cavaliers vs. Bunker Hill Minutemen

The Carlinville Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Bunker Hill Minutemen at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bunker Hill took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Carlinville, who comes in off a win.

Carlinville was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Nokomis. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cavaliers have posted since April 24, 2024.

Noah Convery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Carlinville's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ian Ronald, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Aiden Wagner also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Bunker Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 15-1 to Metro-East Lutheran.

Carlinville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Bunker Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Carlinville's way against Bunker Hill in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, as Carlinville made off with a 14-3 victory. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Minutemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
